Pope Leo XIV’s First Apostolic Journey Abroad

The newly elected spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, will make his first foreign trip to Turkey. According to the Vatican’s official statement, the visit will take place from November 27 to 30, 2025.

The primary reason for this trip is the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea. Pope Leo will join Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I in Nicaea for a special commemoration ceremony.
