Elazig Museum

In 1965, the Elazig Museum in the Harput neighborhood opened. The museum's first location was the Alacali mosque, followed by the municipality building. However, due to archeological digs conducted while building the Keban and Karakaya dams, a new and larger exhibition space was needed. Today, the museum is situated on the grounds of Firat University. Artifacts from the archeological sites Tulin Hill, Tepecik Hill, Degirmen Hill, Norsun Hill, and others are included in the museum's collection. The museum also has a sizable collection of carpets and rugs in addition to artifacts from the Paleolithic era to the Ottoman Empire.
