Taksiyarhis Church Museum

Taksiyarhis Church was built in 1873 in the tourist district of Ayvalik in Balikesir Province. It was built on Cunda Island, also called Alibey Island, by the Greek Orthodox community on the ruins of the old church. Namely, it was attributed to the Guardian Archangels Gabriel and Michael. In 1927 and 1928, it was turned into a mosque, then stayed derelict for a while until the Rahmi M. Koç Museum and Culture Foundation restored it in 2011. It has been known that the church bell that was used during WWII is the largest one in the world and can be seen in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin today.
