Usak Museum

The Usak Museum was opened in 1970 in the Fatih district. Artifacts from the ancient sites of Toptepe, Basmaci, Ikiztepe, and Blaundus can be found in the museum's collection. The collection includes pots from the Hellenistic and Roman periods, tomb stelae, and dozens of coins. The Karun Treasure, also known as the Lydian Hoard, is the most unique piece of the collection. It is made up of 450 artifacts and was stolen in the 1960s. Between 1987 and 1993, the collection was the subject of a legal battle between Turkey and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1993, the collection was brought to Turkey to its home, the Usak Museum.
