It is one of those rare places where the accommodation is just as much a part of the experience as the safari itself.
From the moment I arrived, there was a noticeable sense of calm. The lodge sits within the park, surrounded by open savannah and trees, meaning you are never far from nature. It already felt different from anywhere else I had stayed in Ghana, with the sounds of wildlife constantly in the background.
The real highlight, though, was waking up in the morning and realising that the safari had already started without me needing to go anywhere. From the terrace and nearby areas, it is not unusual to see antelope grazing, baboons moving through the grounds, and a wide variety of birds passing through. It genuinely feels like nature is part of the hotel rather than something you travel out to see.
In the evenings, the atmosphere is just as special. As the sun begins to set over the savannah, everything slows down. People gather quietly to watch the landscape change colour, and there is a peaceful feeling that is hard to describe unless you have experienced it yourself. It is one of those moments where you naturally stop what you are doing and just take it all in.
What I appreciated most was how close you feel to the park at all times. There is no separation between “being on safari” and “being at the lodge.” Instead, it all blends into one continuous experience, which makes the visit feel much more immersive.
The rooms themselves are simple but comfortable, and the focus is clearly on location rather than luxury. That feels completely right for a place like this. You are not there to spend time indoors, but to be outside experiencing everything the park has to offer.
One of the most unexpected moments was spotting animals without even leaving the accommodation area. It reinforced the feeling that you are staying right in the middle of their habitat, rather than observing it from a distance.
Staying at Mole Motel really changed the way I experienced Mole National Park. It meant that the safari never truly ended, and every part of the day had the potential for a wildlife encounter.
If you are planning a visit, I would strongly recommend staying within the park if possible. It adds a completely different dimension to the experience and makes your time at Mole feel even more connected to the landscape and the wildlife that lives there.
