Konya Ethnography Museum

The Konya Ethnography Museum is an ethnographic museum dedicated to the traditional life, culture, and social heritage of Konya and its surrounding region in Turkey.

The museum is located on Sahip Ata Street and is housed in a two-storey building with a basement. The basement level is allocated to administrative offices and a photo laboratory. A conference hall is situated on the ground floor. The museum was officially established on 6 December 1975.

Exhibited Items

The museum’s collection reflects various aspects of daily life, craftsmanship, and artistic traditions of the region. Exhibits include:

• Historical carpets, notably examples from the Eşrefoğlu Mosque, dating to the 13th and 15th centuries
• Traditional women’s clothing, such as bindallı, salta, cepken, and kaftans
• Ornaments and accessories, including embroidery, bracelets, and neckbands
• Ottoman-era writing instruments
• Early examples of Konya newspapers
• Metal keys and locks
• Kitchen utensils made of copper, bronze, glass, and porcelain
• Silver and bronze candelabras
• Coffee-related utensils
• Beads and personal adornments
• Weapons
• Handwritten manuscripts and books

In addition, the museum displays the personal ethnographic collections of Refet Yardımcı and Kenan Özbel, which significantly enrich the scope and diversity of the exhibits.
