Itinerary
You'll book an international flight to Zambia's Lusaka International Airport (LUN). Our representative will greet you upon arrival and assist you in checking your luggage on your local flight from Lusaka International Airport to Mfuwe Airport in South Luangwa National Park.
A Flatdogs Camp guide will meet you at Mfuwe Airport and take you to Flatdogs Safari Camp in the South Luangwa National Park, one of the world's last great wildlife wonders.
After a 45-minute drive to the camp, you will check in and relax before dinner is served later in the evening then bedtime at your chosen time.
You'll have three full days to explore South Luangwa National Park, either on game drives or on foot as part of a walking safari. Your days will begin with a delicious breakfast, followed by a morning activity such as a game drive safari or a walking safari, followed by a return to the camp for lunch and free time to relax.
Afternoon tea will be served before the afternoon/evening game drive, which will begin with afternoon game viewing and then transition into a night safari with the use of spotlights in search of nocturnal animals after dark.
You will then return to the camp almost on time for dinner, and then to your preferred bedtime.

After that, you'll check in, get lunch served, and then have time to relax and enjoy the closer-to-nature experience. Then there will be tea/coffee, followed by a late afternoon/early evening safari activity, before returning to the camp almost in time for dinner and a later bedtime.
This is your great opportunity to explore the amazing Luambe National Park during these days, and here is a list of things you can do during your stay:
Morning (5:00 am – 9:30 am) - Wake up to various birdcalls and the grunting hippo as they welcome a new day in the beautiful Luangwa Valley while enjoying a quick coffee with biscuits. Then, the early mornings are a great time for a mammal monitoring drive with the Luambe guides or ZCP (when available). Other great morning activities include anti-poaching walks, coffee with the carmine bee-eaters OR walking the camera trap circuit to check on the night’s activity!
Midday Siesta (11 am – 2 pm) - This is your time to relax! Have a rest in your tent, or grab your binoculars and spot the birdlife from under the shade of a tree. Alternatively, spend time in the main area with our team learning more about the history of the project, looking at what was caught on the camera traps or updating the leopard family tree. A tasty lunch will be on offer at the camp before heading out for your late afternoon game drive.
Late afternoon / early evening (3 pm – 8 pm) - The late afternoon is a great time to walk the Luangwa listening to the hippos before finishing with sundowners OR heading to Chitingulu village to learn about life for the communities you live next to National Parks. Your evening will be spent relaxing in camp, with a sundowner in hand, watching the pinky sunsets over the river while listening to the antics of the hippo followed by a delicious 3-course meal in the dining area. After dinner, it is a great opportunity to listen and record the bat activity in camp for those with an interest in the smaller, more unique creatures of Luambe!
