• Ateshgah Fire Temple (Fire Worshippers’ Temple)
Visit the ancient Ateshgah, known as the Fire Worshippers’ Temple. Based on Persian and Indian inscriptions, this site once served as a place of worship for Hindu and Zoroastrian communities.
The word “Atash” means fire in Persian.
This unique pentagonal complex features a central courtyard surrounded by monks’ cells and a four-pillar altar at its center. The current structure was built between the 17th and 18th centuries and remains a remarkable symbol of Azerbaijan’s fire-worship heritage.
• Yanardag – The Burning Mountain
Continue to Yanardag (Fire Mountain), located about 25 km north of Baku on the Absheron Peninsula.
The name “Yanardag” translates to “Blazing Mountain” — a perfect description of this natural wonder. Flames naturally burst from the hillsides due to underground gas vents, creating an awe-inspiring sight of fire dancing across the rocky surface.

• Gobustan National Park – Rock Petroglyphs
Gobustan is world-renowned for its extraordinary collection of ancient rock carvings (petroglyphs). The area has been inhabited since the 8th millennium BC and features over 6,000 rock engravings scattered across approximately 100 square kilometers.
These carvings depict hunting scenes, human figures, animals, ships, constellations, and daily life of ancient civilizations. Some of the oldest petroglyphs date back to the 12th century BC.
In 2007, UNESCO declared the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape a World Heritage Site, recognizing its outstanding cultural and historical significance.

• Mud Volcanoes

• Yeddi Gözəl (Seven Beauties) Waterfall

Next, visit the popular Yeddi Gözəl Waterfall, located 6 km from Vandam village and 3 km from the main road near Puskan.

The waterfall is formed from several mountain streams that create seven cascading steps.

The first two levels are easily visible from below.

To witness the remaining five waterfalls, visitors must climb a steep staircase — a rewarding challenge for those with some physical strength.

• Chenlibel Lake

Proceed to Chenlibel Lake, originally created for agricultural irrigation.

Today, however, it is considered one of Quba’s most picturesque natural attractions.

• Sheki Khan’s Palace
Visit the magnificent Sheki Khan’s Palace, the former summer residence of the Sheki Khans.
Constructed between 1761–1762 during the reign of Hussein Khan Mushtaq (grandson of Haji Chelebi), the palace is an architectural masterpiece of the 18th century.
The palace was built using raw bricks, river stones, plane trees, and oak, but the most astonishing fact is that not a single nail or drop of glue was used in its construction.
Everything holds together through a unique traditional technique — a secret formula that has been lost over time.
