Itinerary

Arrival in Guatemala City: Upon clearing customs, your transportation will be ready to take you from the international arrivals area to your hotel. Relax and unwind after your long journey.

The hotel is located in Zona 10, the safest area of the city. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the neighborhood or enjoy a drink before the briefing meeting at the hotel, which will take place at 6 PM.

Hotel: 4* (ASK FOR HOTEL UPGRADES IF NEEDED)

Meals: N/A

Our tour begins on Las Américas Avenue, where you will explore its central garden, which is adorned with squares and monuments honoring the countries of Latin America. Following this, we will head to Plaza Berlin to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the magnificent Pacaya Volcano.

Next, we will visit Reforma Avenue, inspired by the grand boulevards of France. Here, you will observe statues carved in stone, bronze, and marble, which were brought from Italy. We will also stop at Yurrita Church, a private chapel that combines Baroque, Romanesque, and Byzantine styles.

This church was built as a votive offering by Felipe Yurrita, a Spanish native, to the Virgen de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores for saving his life during the eruption of the Santa Maria Volcano.

As we pass through the Civic Center, you will see buildings constructed between the 1950s and 60s, such as the Supreme Court of Justice, the Ministry of Public Finance, the City Hall, and others that reflect the city’s architectural evolution.

We will then stroll along Paseo de la Sexta Avenida, a historic street that emerged after the 1773 Santa Marta earthquakes. Once home to the finest fashion stores, prestigious businesses, and the first cinemas, this avenue remains an important cultural landmark. A visit to Pasaje Rubio, or "El Portalito," will transport you to a commercial passage inspired by 17th-century Italian architecture.

Our next stop will be Plaza Mayor de la Constitución, the heart of the historic center, surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the President’s Palace, and Centennial Park.

Afterward, we will drive to Antigua, located approximately two hours from the capital. Our first stop in Antigua will be Central Park, where you will find the Palace of the General Captains, the old Town Hall, and the Church of San José, which was once the city’s Cathedral. You will have the opportunity to take photographs with the famous Mermaid Fountain, whose captivating legend our guide will share with you during the tour.

We will then continue to visit the Second Cathedral, known for its stunning Baroque façade that contrasts with the smooth columns. Our tour will conclude with a visit to the Santo Domingo Monastery. Finally, we will transfer you to your hotel in Antigua to rest and reflect on the day’s adventures.

After breakfast, we will take you to Pacaya National Park, located about an hour and a half from Antigua. Upon arrival in San Vicente de Pacaya, we will meet our local guide and begin the hiking trail to the foot of Pacaya Volcano, one of Guatemala's active volcanoes. Under the shadow of the smoking mountain, we will embark on an unforgettable experience: climbing the volcano!

We will hike up the slope of the volcano to a point just one mile from the crater. The hike typically takes between 1 to 2 hours, offering an incredible adventure with stunning views. Afterward, we will begin our descent and head to Kawilal Hot Springs to relax and unwind after the hike.

If you are unable to hike, there is an option to rent a horse for an easier journey. Please let us know in advance if you would like to take this option, as it comes with an additional cost.

After admiring the views of the volcano, we will return to the starting point. Our transportation will then take us to Kawilal Hot Springs, where you can relax and recover in one of the 12 thermal pools. Finally, we will drive back to Antigua for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, our bus will take you to Tikal National Park, the most significant Maya ruins in Guatemala, located approximately one hour away. From the moment you arrive at Tikal National Park, the importance of this site will be evident. You will be immediately immersed in Maya culture as we explore this vast complex, which contains around 3,000 structures that have been excavated by archaeologists—at least up to this point.

Accompanied by our expert guide in Maya culture, you will learn about the history of this ancient civilization that once thrived in Mesoamerica.

Religion played a central role in Maya life, as seen in the numerous temples within the park, such as the Temple of the Masks, the Temple of the Great Jaguar, the Temple of the Jaguar Priest, and the iconic Temple IV, the tallest temple in all of Tikal. While inside the park, we will enjoy a meal consisting of a vegetable soup as the first course, followed by a choice of chicken, beef, or pork as the second course, accompanied by rice or vegetables (vegetarian options are also available).

Afterward, you will have time to continue exploring this monumental Maya city. After taking in the grandeur of these hidden Maya ruins, we will return by bus to the airport for your flight back to Guatemala City. Upon arrival, our transportation will take you to the hotel for an overnight stay.
