About this tour
Follow ancient footsteps from the Pyramids and Holy Family churches of Cairo to the sacred mountain peaks of South Sinai on this 6-day, 5-night private heritage and pilgrimage journey. Combining 4 nights in Cairo (Nights 1–3 and Night 5, Bed & Breakfast) with 1 night in St. Catherine (Night 4, Half Board), this itinerary includes 5 breakfasts (Days 2–6), 4 lunches (Days 2–5), and 1 dinner in St. Catherine (Day 4); lunch and dinner on Day 1, dinners in Cairo on Days 2, 3, and 5, and lunch and dinner on Day 6 are not included.
Arrive in Cairo on Day 1 and check in to your hotel. On Day 2, tour the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the Egyptian Museum with your private Egyptologist guide. On Day 3, trace the Holy Family trail across Cairo, visiting the Hanging Church, Abu Serga Crypt, the Virgin Mary Tree in Matareya, the Church of the Virgin at Zeitoun/Mostorod, and the Nile-side Church of the Virgin in El Maadi. On Day 4, drive across the Suez Canal tunnel to the high mountain valley of St. Catherine in South Sinai for dinner and overnight.
Before dawn on Day 5, ascend Mount Sinai (2,285 m; warm layered clothing, sturdy walking shoes, and a flashlight/headlamp are recommended) with a local Bedouin guide to watch the sunrise over the granite peaks, descend to visit the 6th-century Monastery of St. Catherine and the Burning Bush, enjoy breakfast at your St. Catherine hotel, and drive back to Cairo with lunch en route for your final night and Day 6 departure.

Afternoon Arrival in St. Catherine: Arrive in the peaceful high-altitude mountain town of St. Catherine, check in to your mountain hotel, and enjoy an early dinner before resting for your night ascent of Mount Sinai.

01:30–07:00 – Guided Night Ascent & Descent of Mount Sinai (Jebel Musa): Begin the gradual trail up Mount Sinai (2,285 m; approx. 750 summit steps at the top; warm layers and walking shoes required) accompanied by an experienced local Bedouin mountain guide (camels are available optionally on the lower trail), reaching the summit chapel for sunrise over the granite peaks of South Sinai before descending to the base.
07:15–08:45 – Monastery of St. Catherine & Burning Bush: Visit the 6th-century UNESCO World Heritage Monastery of St. Catherine—the world's oldest continuously operating Christian monastery—including the Church of the Transfiguration and the Burning Bush (1.5 hours; entrance included; modest dress covering shoulders and knees required).
09:00–10:30 – Hotel Breakfast & Check-out in St. Catherine: Return to your St. Catherine hotel to enjoy breakfast, freshen up, and complete check-out.
