RAINFOREST TAMAN NEGARA

(Nite Jungle Walk, Night River Cruise, Fireflies & Monkeys, Batu Caves)

DAY 01 KAULA LUMPUR –TAMAN NEGARA (Recommended hotel : Mutiara Resort).

Taman Negara is a 130 million years old Tropical Rainforest with endangered Tigers, Elephants, Tapirs, Rhinoceros, Sun Bears ... 14,000 Flowering Plants, 300 Bird Species.

 7am  Complimentary pick up from your Kuala Lumpur hotel and depart for Taman Negara. Visit the iconic Batu Caves and climb 272 steps into the temple of Hindu Deity honored during Hindu festival of Thaipusam. Devotees give thanks for vows fulfilled. Ladies to be properly attired to enter the temple – knees and shoulders to be covered.

 On arrival at Kuala Tahan, tour begins. No waiting as Nature Guide and boat ready.

Trekking to the Canopy Walkway (Closed Fridays) to catch a glimpse at the world’s oldest rainforest. Trekking continues.

The boatman skillfully negotiates 7 sets of rapids to reach an ABORIGINE VILLAGE. The women shy away, men “run” away only to reappear with their fire making and hunting tools. You can partake of the activities. These naïve people sustain their living with small farming, fishing, use blowpipe to hunt smaller animals, sell medicinal herbs and spices. They are being rehabilitated. The rainforest is their supermarket.

The Experienced Nature guide who lives in Taman Negara itself will belt out facts and taboos on Taman Negara. Check in to hotel. After dinner join Nature Guide to look for insects, scorpions, spiders and watch nocturnal animals come for their salt lick during Night Jungle walk.

8.30pm Jump onto a forestry boat for the Night River Cruise. You may sight deer, civet cats even elephants lazing along the riverside. Experience the night ambience seated on a boat deep in virgin jungle. A take home experience most definitely !

 DAY 02 TAMAN NEGARA – KUALA LUMPUR (Recommended hotel – Traders next to KLCC)

8am  After breakfast, depart for Kuala Lumpur and visit the iconic Independent Square - Sultan Abdul Samad Building, St Mary’s Cathedral, the Clubhouse, Jamek Mosque. Drive past the Old Railway Building and the National Mosque through to colorful Little India and Bustling Chinatown to check in to your hotel. Free and easy.

4pm Depart for Kuala Selangor which houses the largest colony of Fireflies in the world. Meet the silvered leaf monkeys and after a frolicking time with them, adjourn to a riverside restaurant for a sumptuous seafood dinner (included). Then catch a boat to watch fireflies at dusk at their dazzling best as the boat manoeuvres beside mangrove trees. The fireflies are resting, feeding and on a mating ritual. A fascinating sight to behold and silence to prevail ! Return to hotel 10pm.
