Go Drinking with a Scotsman
Welcome, whisky lovers, curious sippers, and brave souls who thought, “Why not start the day with a dram?” You’ve made an excellent choice.Today, we’ll be sampling Scotland’s most famous export—not shortbread, not haggis, not even Sean Connery—but the golden nectar we call whisky. Or as we say in Gaelic, uisge-beatha—the water of life. (Side effects may include warmth, cheerfulness, and the sudden urge to sing Dougie MacLean songs.)We’ll start with a wee wander through central Glasgow, where I’ll regale you with tales of how whisky was made, drunk, taxed, smuggled, and occasionally blamed for bad decisions. Glasgow and alcohol go way back—we’re talking centuries of spirited history, some of it even true. Then we’ll head to one of the city’s oldest pubs—full of character, stories, and probably someone claiming to be a descendant of Rob Roy. It’s the perfect place to raise a glass, meet a local or two, and toast to Glasgow in all its gritty, glorious charm. So loosen your belt, ready your tastebuds, and remember—sip slowly… it’s whisky, not Irn-Bru!Slàinte mhath!
