Kemerli Church (Panagia Pantobasilissa)

The Kemerli Church (Panagia Pantobasilissa, also known as the Arched Church in the region), is a renowned Greek church located in the Tirilye district of Mudanya. Historical manuscripts indicate that the church was dedicated to Panagia Pantobasillissa. It follows a Greek cross plan, extending in the east and west directions. Although it is no longer in use, the building has withstood the test of time. The style of its walls suggests that it was constructed towards the end of the 13th century. The church contains various layers of wall paintings and holds significant importance for Christians. The first layer of frescoes dates back to the early 14th century, and the second layer was added in 1723. It is said that the columns used in its construction were imported from Alexandria. The building is supported by pillars at the facades, and the public commonly refers to it as the Arched Church. The walls and dome of the church remain in good condition.
