Mucur Underground City

It has been considered that there are 15 underground cities in Kirsehir, and Mucur Underground City is one of them. In the 2nd century BC, Christianity was spreading, and Roman pressure was increasing in all of Anatolia. It has been known that Christians who were runing from the Romans built underground cities in Kirsehir and especially in the Cappadocia region throughout the 3rd and 4th centuries BC. Mucur Underground City is one of them. It is around 7-8 meters deep, and it has been considered that the city reaches the Asik Pasa Tomb, which is about 22 km away. The sections that are close to the surface have been cleaned and opened for visits in 2015.
