Tigris

The Tigris River rises roughly from the mountains in Eastern Anatolia Region and Lake Hazar in Elazig province, it meets with the Euphrates and flows out to Basra Bay. It is 1900 km long in total and 523 km located in Turkey. It is one of the most important water resources in Turkey and Southeastern Anatolia. The Tigris is one of the rivers forming the ancient Mesopotamian border. It is shorter than the Euphrates, but it has more water. The Sumerian name for the river is Idigna or Idigina, which means 'flowing water'.
