The country is primarily made up of shoreline and savannah-style jungle. The north is somewhat flat and swampy, while the south is mountainous. The climate is tropical, having two seasons: dry and wet. The official language of this country is English. Belize has a claim to fame in that chewing gum originated here from the gum of the Chicle tree!
