About Kutman Wine Museum
Kutman Wine
Museum
The
Kutman
Wine Museum, located in Mürefte, tells the
story of one of Turkey’s most distinguished wine-making families and their
century-long journey in viticulture. It was brought to life through the vision
and dedication of Ahmet Adnan Kutman, a third-generation
member of the Kutman family, who dreamed of preserving and showcasing the
family’s winemaking heritage.
The Legacy
of the Kutman Family
The
Kutman family has been engaged in winemaking for generations, and Ahmet Adnan
Kutman played a vital role in reviving this legacy. After establishing modern
facilities, he began reclaiming wineries that had been divided due to
inheritance issues. In 2003, he successfully
took back the family’s first winery, where
their story had originally begun. Restoring the completely ruined building to
its original
architectural style, he transformed it into a living
memory of tradition.
Inspiration
from Portugal
The idea of a wine museum first came to Kutman during a business
trip to Portugal in 1988. While attending a recital in an old
winery, he was captivated by the cultural depth and atmosphere of the venue.
Inspired, he promised himself:
“One day, we shall see this beauty in my country too.”
From that moment on, he began collecting historical
machinery, tools, and documents belonging to his family’s
winemaking history—a labor of love that took nearly 15 years
to realize.
What to See
in the Museum
Visitors to the Kutman Wine Museum can

winemaking and the resilience of a family deeply tied to their land.
A Blend of

more than just a museum—it is a celebration of tradition,
craftsmanship, and artistry. By uniting historical records,
wine-making tools, and visual arts, it offers visitors a unique opportunity to
experience the story of Turkish viticulture in a region renowned for its
fertile vineyards.
A must-visit for wine lovers, culture enthusiasts, and history seekers alike, the Kutman Wine Museum is where the legacy of wine meets the art of memory.
