Tour Overview
This four day safari weaves together the distinct landscapes and wildlife experiences of two of Uganda’s most celebrated national parks. Beginning in the acacia-dotted hills of Lake Mburo, you will wander among herds of Burchell’s zebra and eland, perhaps tracking game on foot during a guided walking safari. The journey then unfolds into the vast savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the Kazinga Channel teems with hippos and the Ishasha sector offers the rare spectacle of lions lounging in the branches of fig trees. From sunrise game drives across the Kasenyi Plains to tranquil boat cruises at dusk, this journey is a carefully paced immersion into the rhythms of the African wilderness
Highlights
Itinerary
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, followed by a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park. En route, you will stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for a photo opportunity and to witness a water experiment demonstrating the Coriolis effect. A stop for lunch and a cultural experience at the Igongo Cultural Centre provides insight into the local Ankole culture. Upon arrival at your lodge in Lake Mburo, you will settle in before heading out for a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Mburo itself. This is a perfect way to unwind as you spot hippos, crocodiles, and a rich variety of birdlife along the water's edge. You will return to your lodge for dinner and your first overnight stay in the wilderness
An early morning activity awaits, with the choice of a game drive or a unique guided walking safari. The park is famous for its large herds of Burchell's zebra, as well as impala, eland, and cape buffalo, all best viewed in the soft morning light. After returning to the lodge for a full breakfast, you will check out and begin the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The afternoon is yours to settle into your new lodge, followed by an evening game drive to get a first taste of the park’s vast landscapes. Dinner and your overnight stay will be in the heart of Queen Elizabeth.
You will set out before sunrise for a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. This area is renowned for its predator sightings, including lions and hyenas, as well as large herds of Uganda kob and elephants. After returning to the lodge for a late breakfast and some rest, the afternoon brings the highlight of the park: a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This cruise offers one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa and a parade of elephants, buffaloes, and birds coming to the water's edge. You will enjoy dinner and a second night at your lodge
Following a final breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Kampala. A final en-route game drive as you exit the park offers a last chance to spot wildlife. You will stop in Mbarara for lunch and possibly again at the Equator for souvenirs before arriving back in Kampala or Entebbe in the late afternoon, marking the end of your safari
