Itinerary

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a transfer from Arusha or Moshi to Marangu Gate, where you will complete the park registration formalities before starting your trek.

The hike begins through the beautiful montane rainforest, where you may see tropical birds and, occasionally, monkeys. The trail is generally gradual and offers a peaceful introduction to Mount Kilimanjaro.

After approximately 4–5 hours of hiking, arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night in a shared mountain hut.

Hiking time: 4–5 hours
Distance: Approximately 8 km
Elevation: 1,860 m → 2,720 m
Accommodation: Mandara Hut

After breakfast, continue your ascent from Mandara Hut toward Horombo Hut. The trail gradually leaves the rainforest behind and enters the beautiful moorland zone, with spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

Take your time and maintain a comfortable pace to allow your body to adjust to the increasing altitude. After approximately 5–7 hours of hiking, arrive at Horombo Hut, where you will have dinner and rest overnight.

Hiking time: 5–7 hours
Distance: Approximately 12 km
Elevation: 2,720 m → 3,720 m
Accommodation: Horombo Hut

After breakfast, continue toward Kibo Hut through the alpine desert. The vegetation becomes increasingly sparse as you approach the high-altitude Kibo area.

The hike is steady and should be taken at a slow pace. You will pass the distinctive landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks before reaching Kibo Hut.

After approximately 5–6 hours of hiking, arrive at Kibo Hut. Enjoy an early dinner and prepare for the summit attempt, which begins during the night.

Hiking time: 5–6 hours
Distance: Approximately 9 km
Elevation: 3,720 m → 4,703 m
Accommodation: Kibo Hut

Wake around midnight and begin the challenging summit ascent with your mountain guide. The climb takes you through steep scree toward Gilman's Point on the crater rim.

Continue along the crater rim toward Stella Point before making your final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 metres.

After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs, begin the descent toward Kibo Hut for a short rest and refreshments. Continue down to Horombo Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Hiking time: Approximately 10–14 hours
Elevation: 4,703 m → 5,895 m → 3,720 m
Accommodation: Horombo Hut

After breakfast, begin your final descent through the moorland and rainforest zones toward Marangu Gate.

Enjoy the changing scenery as you descend through the lush forest. Upon reaching the gate, complete the park exit procedures and receive your summit certificates.

Your vehicle will meet you at Marangu Gate for the transfer back to Arusha or Moshi, marking the end of your 5-day group-joining Kilimanjaro adventure.

Hiking time: 5–7 hours
Distance: Approximately 20 km
Elevation: 3,720 m → 1,860 m
