About this tour
Combine an intimate 4-night boutique luxury Dahabiya sailing voyage from Esna to Aswan with a 1-night 5-star Aswan stay and a private excursion to the Great Temples of Abu Simbel on this 6-day (5-night) Upper Egypt journey. Guided throughout by a private licensed Egyptologist, this itinerary includes 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 4 dinners (14 meals in total; breakfast on Day 1, dinner on Day 5, and lunch/dinner on Day 6 are not included).
Begin in Luxor at 08:00 on Day 1 with guided tours of the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Colossi of Memnon before transferring 1 hour south to Esna to embark your boutique two-masted Dahabiya sailing yacht (Nights 1–4, Full Board: e.g., Nour El Nil or Lazuli Dahabiya). Over Days 2–4, sail peacefully under wind power to El Kab, the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus at Edfu, the sandstone quarries and rock shrines of Gebel El Silsila, and the twin riverside Temple of Kom Ombo—with an atmospheric candlelit barbecue dinner on a private Nile island.
On Day 5, disembark in Aswan after breakfast to visit the island Temple of Isis at Philae by private motorboat, the Aswan High Dam, and the Unfinished Obelisk, followed by lunch and check-in at a 5-star luxury hotel in Aswan (Night 5, Bed & Breakfast: e.g., Sofitel Legend Old Cataract or Mövenpick Resort Aswan). On Day 6, take a private morning excursion to the UNESCO rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari at Abu Simbel before drop-off in Aswan by 16:30. Practical Note: Rated Easy (ages 6–80).
