Welcome to Peru! Our private driver will pick you up at Lima airport and take you to your beautiful hotel. The evening is all yours to enjoy on your own.

Our transport will pick you up and take you to the airport for your flight to Cusco (flight tickets not included). When you arrive, our staff will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. You will be offered a cup of coca tea to help you adjust to the altitude. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and rest.

In the morning, you will have free time to rest. In the afternoon, we will begin our tour by visiting the Cathedral, a large and important church in the main square. Then we will go to the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha) and the Sacsayhuaman fortress, a huge Inca structure made of large stones. Next, we will visit Qenqo, known for its tunnels and canals, Puca Pucará, an old Inca storage site, and Tambomachay, a place where water rituals were held. After the tour, we will return to Cusco.

Our transport will pick you up and take you to Poroy station, where you will take the train to Aguas Calientes. From there, we will take a bus to Machu Picchu and start our tour of this amazing place, a World Wonder and UNESCO site. It was once a special retreat for the Inca Emperor Pachacutec. After the visit, we will have lunch. Later, at the scheduled time, we will return to Cusco by train.

We will leave Cusco early in the morning in one of our vehicles, passing through beautiful valleys and small villages. Our first stop will be in Paucartambo, a pretty town from colonial times, where we will visit an interesting museum. We will eat a packed lunch along the way. Then we will continue to the Cloud Forest, a lush area full of special plants and animals like the Spectacled Bear, the Cock of the Rock bird, orchids, bromeliads, and ferns. Surrounded by amazing nature, we will arrive at Orquídeas de San Pedro Lodge, where we will spend the night in a warm and comfortable place.

Very early in the morning, we will go to look for the Cock of the Rock, the national bird of Peru, known for its special courtship dance. After breakfast, we will travel to the small town of Pilcopata, and then to the Port of Atalaya, which is by the Alto Madre de Dios River (700 meters above sea level). From there, we will take a boat to our private reserve called “Erika.” We will walk along forest trails in the area between the high and low jungle, where your guide will show you and explain the wildlife around you. In the afternoon, we will explore more trails to see different animals and plants. At night, we’ll take a short walk to look for insects, snakes, and frogs.

Early in the morning, we will take a boat to Collpa, a clay wall next to the Alto Madre de Dios River, where many parrots like the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, and maybe the Maracana macaw come to eat minerals and salts. After this, we will return to the Erika Lodge for breakfast. Later, we will visit Machuwasi Lake and ride quietly on a catamaran to watch many birds, such as the hoatzin (a prehistoric-looking bird), horned screamers, red-capped cardinals, herons, vultures, cormorants, and more. While walking in the area, we may also see monkeys, capybaras, snakes, and other animals. In the afternoon, we will walk another trail to see the Ceiba tree, one of the largest and oldest tree species in the Amazon.

After a tasty breakfast, we pack up and take a boat back to Atalaya Port. Our vehicle will be waiting to drive us back to Cusco. On the way, we will stop briefly at the Pico de Hoz Mirador hummingbird garden (750 meters above sea level), a conservation center where we can see and photograph many types of hummingbirds and other animals, like toucans, king vultures, monkeys, and maybe even a sloth. We will have lunch on the way and arrive in Cusco in the afternoon.
