Türkiye has grown to become one of the top 5 producers of olives and olive oils in the world. This can be attributed in part to the Mediterranean climate and because central Anatolia is rumored to be the birthplace of the humble olive tree. With deep historical, cultural, and manufacturing roots, it makes sense that Turkish cuisine is often built around the humble olive.

Itinerary

Pick up from your hotel in the morning and then depart to the production center. The wild olive tree originated in Eastern Mediterranean areas which are known now as Greater Syria (Syria, Lebanon & Palestine). Then plantations expanded to Southern European coasts on the Mediterranean and North Africa coasts. Olive oil history archaeological evidence shows that olives were turned into olive oil by 6000 BC and 4500 BC at a now-submerged prehistoric settlement south of Haifa. Until 1500 BC, eastern coastal areas of the Mediterranean were most heavily cultivated. Olive oil is regarded as a healthful dietary oil because of its high content of monounsaturated fat (mainly Oleic acid) and polyphenols. We will taste and learn which olive oil is more quality than others, which one is better for salads which one is better for meals. End of the tour return to the hotel.
