Itinerary
On arrival at Kotoka International Airport, our expert culturaltour guide will meet, assist and transfer you to your hotel in ourprivate air-conditioned vehicle. Once you have checked in, yourguide will brief you on what to expect during your stay here inGhana. Other activities today will depend on your arrival timeand preference.
Visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan Africanism; this is thefi nal burial place and former home of the prominent AmericanPan-Africanist Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois, who led the Pan-Africancongress between 1919 and 1927. It is currently a Pan AfricanCentre for culture and it also has a research library and galleryfull of manuscripts.
We will make a stop at the Independence Arch and the BlackStar Square, Accra’s ceremonial grounds, to visit the Arts andCrafts market. We visit the Old city of Accra, JamestownCommunity-One of Accra’s most historic neighborhoods wherehistory resides on every corner. Best known for its lighthouses(the fi rst of which was constructed in 1875 by the British) as anavigational aid for trading vessels sailing through the Gulf ofGuinea. The original structure was ruined but a larger and moreimproved lighthouse completed in 1921 is still functioning today.Observe how the local food of indigenes Ga’s prepares themost popular staple food in Accra made from corn into ‘GaKenkey’ with the spicy sauce ‘Shito’ and fried fi sh.
This evening, enjoy a taste of Fulani’s cuisine with Chef Binta.‘Dine on a Mat’ is a nomadic cultural experience starting with acolorful mat setting, a guided introduction to the Fulani tribe’shistory and traditions, your taste buds are then engaged withfragrant bold pairings of local meats, vegetables, ancient grainslike Fonio and indigenous spices. You’re then lulled with liveFulani percussions and soothed with a traditional Attaya teaceremony.

After breakfast, have a scenic drive through what we refer toas ‘mountains’ to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire toexplore the legends of the famous Ashantis, whose legacies arestill evident today. En-route stop at the Cocoa ResearchInstitute, Akyem Tafo. You will have the opportunity to examineand touch some cocoa pods, learn how the cocoa bean isprocessed into chocolate and other by-products like cocoaliquor, black soap, and cocoa pomade. Take a hot cocoabeverage and have a bite of the Ghanaian Chocolate beforedeparting for Kumasi.
Arrive Kumasi in the late afternoon and visit Manhyia Palace,the offi cial residence of Ashanti Kings (Asantehene) until 1974,now a museum containing treasured items relating to theAshanti Kingdom.
Time permitting, we shall visit the nearby Okomfo AnokyeSword site, an important symbol of Ashanti unity that marks thespot where the Golden Stool “descended from the sky” and hasbeen in place for more than 300 years. Legend says the AshantiKingdom would collapse should the sword ever be removed.
Transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay; evening atleisure.

We will visit the National Cultural Centre which features thePrempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of brass makers,potters and batik makers.
Continue driving through the city to Lake Bosomtwe, thelargest body of fresh water in Ghana. You will be delighted withthe peace and serenity of the Lake. A walk on the banksprovides the opportunity to meet and interact with the localfi shing folks giving an insight into their way of life. Enjoy a 30minutes boat ride to explore the picturesque view of the Lake.
Enjoy charcoal-grilled or fried Tilapia which are caught from theLake before you return to Kumasi.

After breakfast, drive to Cape Coast; with a stop at AssinManso, the burial site of two former slaves from the U.S. andJamaica whose remains were re-interred in August 1998 duringGhana’s fi rst Emancipation Day celebration. You will see the‘Slave River’ where captured Africans were washed beforebeing confi ned in the Slave Castles to await shipment.
Upon arrival in Cape Coast, visit the Cape Coast Castle and theCastle Museum for a guided tour. Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the home to the “Door of NoReturn”.
Transfer to and check-in at the hotel; evening is at leisure.

Morning at leisure.
Get to learn a few bargaining skills at the market as usuallydone by locals amidst shopping. Whiles back at the teachingvenue with a local family, attend the instructions that will off eryou complete knowledge on making local cuisines like fufu, RedRed, yam, and palaver sauce. On completion, enjoy your laborby biting into your handy work and taking this rich experiencethat will forever stay with you. Beverages of your choice will beserved with your meal. Once done, return to your hotel with acopy of the recipes.

After breakfast, visit Kakum National Park. Kakum is one of Ghanas most famous parks. Take a brief walking tour on theforest fl oor; see birds, butterfl ies and perhaps catch a glimpseof the forests of over 40 species of mammals includingmonkeys and the reclusive forest elephant. Proceed to thecanopy walk. Kakum is home to Africa’s only aerial walkwaythrough the tree canopy, a 1000-foot-long and seven-bridgewalkway with viewing platforms that reach heights of over 150feet above the ground.
Return with a stop at a Palm Plantation, observe and tastefresh palm wine.
Continue your drive to Accra, arriving early evening.

Early morning visit Auntie Muni ‘Waakye’ (brown rice made withbeans and served with spaghetti, tomato sauce, and blacksauce) and have a taste of her delicious breakfast.
