About this tour
Hangzhou Xixi Wetland Scenic Area is located in the central urban area of Hangzhou. It is China’s first national wetland park that integrates urban wetlands, agricultural wetlands, and cultural wetlands.
Origin of the Name
The name "Xixi" (as a water area designation) can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. One theory suggests it was named for its location in the western part of Qiantang County; another theory links the name to its position west of West Lake. In 2005, Xixi Wetland was approved as China’s first national wetland park by the State Forestry Administration, and this name was officially confirmed.
