Tour Overview
Discover Mtskheta, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inhabited since before 1000 BC, Mtskheta was the capital of the early Kingdom of Iberia (Eastern Georgia) and remains the spiritual heart of the country.
Located just 20 km from Tbilisi at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, Mtskheta stood on an important ancient trade route and was once a major political and religious center. In 2014, it was officially declared the “Holy City” by the Georgian Orthodox Church.
This half-day cultural tour is perfect for travelers interested in history, religion, architecture, and scenic landscapes.
