Savor an authentic Sri Lankan lunch before continuing on a panoramic city tour of Colombo, taking in the city’s fascinating blend of Portuguese, Dutch, English, and Indian influences. After breakfast, proceed to visit the Dambulla Cave Temples, which contain the largest collection of cave paintings in the world and more than 150 images of the Buddha. The largest is a colossal figure measuring 14 metres in length. Later, continue to Anuradhapura, the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Ceylon. It is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites and numerous places of historical and archaeological significance. Highlights include the Samadhi Buddha Statue (4th century AD), depicting the Buddha in a state of deep meditation, and the Isurumuniya Rock Temple (3rd century BC), renowned for its intricate rock carvings. Sigiriya is renowned for its massive column of golden-hued granite rising dramatically from the surrounding plains - a stunning contrast against the blue sky. Later, continue your journey to Polonnaruwa, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka, where you can explore numerous temples, tombs, stupas, and the impressive Quadrangle, home to some of the island’s most remarkable ruins. Nestled deep in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, Nuwara Eliya sits at an elevation of 1,800 metres, making it one of the coolest regions in the country. Its pleasant climate made it a favorite retreat for the English and Scots during the colonial era, and remnants of this period are still visible in the manicured gardens and colonial-style manor homes that adorn the city. Upon arrival, drive to your hotel for check-in and take some time to relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air. You will also have free time to explore the town at your own pace.

Early in the morning, proceed to Horton Plains, located on Sri Lanka’s highest plateau. This excursion involves a 2.5-hour trek through beautiful landscapes, where you can spot wildlife such as monkeys and sambar deer.
