Maras Castle

It is believed that Mars Castle was constructed between the first and second centuries BC, during the Late Hittite era. Numerous historical artifacts from the Late Hittite Period were found during the archeological excavations in the castle. Throughout the Assyrian, Medieval, Persia, Cappadocian, Roman, Byzantine, Anatolian Seljuk, and Ottoman periods, it was repaired and put to military use.
