Old Kahta Castle (Yenikale Archeological Site)

Old Kahta Castle was built on top of a steep and high mountain in Adiyaman city. It is also called the Yenikale Archeological Site. Because the castle bears traces of Artuqid, Seljuk, Mamluk, and Ottoman civilizations, historians believe it was built by the Commagene Kingdom and that subsequent civilizations added new sections to it. A pigeon loft and a secret staircase can be found on the castle's south slope, and inside there is a mosque, prison, dungeon, front line of defense, bastions, dovecotes, and a cistern.
