Azerbaijan Sheki Tours

Sheki Tours center on one of Azerbaijan's most complete historic towns, set in the Caucasus foothills of the northwest along a former branch of the Silk Road. Sheki Khan's Palace

Built in the late eighteenth century as the summer residence of the local khans, the palace is known for its shebeke windows, colored glass fitted into wooden lattice without nails or glue. Painted ceilings and walls throughout the two-story building depict hunting scenes, floral patterns and battle imagery, largely intact since the palace was completed.

Caravanserais and the Old Town

Sheki's Silk Road caravanserais, thick-walled stone buildings that once sheltered merchants and their goods, still stand in the town center and several now operate as hotels. Walking the old quarter's narrow streets takes visitors past workshops still producing shebeke windows and Sheki's well-known halva, a layered sweet made with nuts and sugar syrup.

Kish Village

A short drive from central Sheki, the village of Kish holds one of the oldest churches in the Caucasus, an Albanian-era structure with foundations reaching back to the early centuries of Christianity in the region. The surrounding village retains a quieter, more rural character than Sheki itself.

Late spring and early autumn bring mild weather for walking between the palace, old town and Kish, avoiding both the summer heat and the occasional snow that closes mountain roads into the district in deep winter. The surrounding foothills turn green in May and color again in October, framing the town's stone architecture in both seasons.
