How Long to Stay
Three nights is the sweet spot in Siem Reap: two days for the temple circuits and one for the countryside or the lake. Travelers pressed for time manage the highlights in a single long day, though dawn starts come standard either way.
Beyond the Main Circuit
Banteay Srei and the carved riverbed at Kbal Spean sit about an hour north, often combined with the waterfalls of Phnom Kulen, the plateau where the Khmer Empire was proclaimed in 802. Quad-bike and cycling trips roll through rice villages minutes from town.
Weather Worth Knowing
November to February is dry and relatively cool. March and April turn hot, while the June-to-October rains green the moats and thin the crowds, with most showers arriving late in the day.
