About this tour

Sivas has been known as an important commercial center situated amidst the trading routes of Silk Road and the famous King’s Road since the old times. Its history goes back to prehistoric ages when it was home to many different civilizations dating back to Hittites. Sivas was called by many different names such as Sebaste, Sipas, Megalopolis, Kabira, Diaspolis (City of Gods), Talaurs, Danişment Province, Eyalet-i Rum and Eyalet-i Sivas throughout history. It was a significant urban center during the era of Seljuks, which seems to be apparent in the architectural layout of many famous buildings including mosques and madrasas. In this tour package, you will not only have a chance to taste local foods but also you will learn how to cook them. You can also taste one of the most popular Turkish cultures; This is Turkish Bath. After this experience, you feel quite relaxed.

At first, we will visit the archaeological museum to get acquainted with the history of the city. We will also visit Kongre and Ataturk Ethnographic Museum. In the center of the city we can see several significant buildings and mosques. Sivas has many beautiful sights including three historic theological schools: the Mavi Medrese from 1271 (which stands out with its turquoise tiles), the Sifaiye Medrese from 1218 and the Cifte Minare Medrese from 1271. These structures stand out with their grand gates covered in intricate stone carvings, which is one of the signature aesthetic cues of the Seljuk style. Another important point of historic interest is the city’s oldest mosque, the Ulu Camii, which was completed in 1196 and is a beautiful example of striking simplicity in terms of design. The Behrampasa Han (caravanserai) is also an important structure that represents Sivas’ Ottoman influence and was completed in 1573 with beautiful lion motifs around its windows. There are also a number of Seljuk turbesi (cylindrical tombs) scattered about the town. During lunch, we have time to try the local cuisine with drinks. Sivas's local kitchen is very rich in variety and the colour of the dishes, which we can mainly list as follows: kebaps, biryan kebap, meatballs, desserts, salads and spices special to the city. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Sivas.

On this guided tour, you will avoid the constant nagging and sometimes bullying that is well known in the markets of Turkey, enabling you to enjoy the shopping experience whilst gaining the knowledge of the ancient craftsmen. (Breakfast included)

Today after breakfast we begin our day tour. Sugul Valley is one of the important natural beauties worth seeing in Sivas. The valley, from the geological II. Zaman (Mesozoic), was formed during the Cretaceous period. Surrounded by rather hard and steep rocks, the main rock of the valley is sedimentary. The two slopes of the valley are stony and have a clay soil structure. In addition, the valley floor consists of sandy soil with a loose granular structure. As a result of the natural abrasions occurring on the rocks, the fall of large rock pieces to the river and river edges, and the crumbling of some rocks increase this visual richness. The vegetation of the valley is willow near the stream and wild almond, rose hip and sumac trees on the slopes. Juniper trees are also rarely seen on the rocks. Many tourists prefer hiking in the canyon. Here you can relax and be alone with nature. After the tour we depart to your hotel. Overnight in Sivas.

(Breakfast included)

After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and transfer to Sivas airport. We hope your tour was a memorable one and we look forward to seeing you in the future on another TravelShop Booking Tour. Have a safe trip back home and thanks for choosing TravelShop Booking.
