What makes this tour special

7-Day Experiential Learning Journey in Kenya: Environment, Wildlife, and Global Culture

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, students are warmly received and transferred to their hotel for check-in.

An orientation session introduces Kenya’s geography, safety guidelines, and program objectives, followed by light team-building activities.

After breakfast, students visit Nairobi National Park for a guided game drive focusing on urban ecosystems and wildlife conservation.

Continue to the Giraffe Centre and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to learn about endangered species protection and rehabilitation.
Overnight in Nairobi

After an early breakfast, students will be picked up from their hotel and depart Nairobi at approximately 0700hrs, travelling along the scenic Thika Superhighway through the pineapple-growing regions of Thika.

En route, the group will stop at the Equator Line Nanyuki for an interactive demonstration of the Coriolis Effect. Students will observe how water behaves differently in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, gaining practical insight into Earth’s rotation and geographical concepts. There will also be an opportunity to obtain a certificate of participation.

The journey then continues to Nyahururu, where students will visit the iconic Thomson Falls, a 74-meter (243 ft) waterfall along the Ewaso Nyiro River originating from the Aberdare ranges. Here, students will study river systems, erosion processes, and waterfall formation.

For a deeper experiential learning opportunity, students may take a guided walk along the trail to the base of the falls for closer observation of the physical geography and surrounding ecosystem. The area also features natural pools that support wildlife such as hippos, offering an introduction to aquatic habitats and biodiversity.

Lunch will be arranged at a nearby restaurant. After the excursion, students will proceed to their hotel for check-in, relaxation, and evening reflection on the day’s learning experiences.

After breakfast, depart Nyahururu and proceed to Aberdare National Park.

Upon arrival, transfer to a lodge within the park, uniquely positioned overlooking a floodlit waterhole.

Students will learn about montane forest ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation practices in highland environments. Wildlife observation is conducted from the lodge decks, offering a safe and structured learning experience.

The evening includes guided discussions and reflection as students observe nocturnal wildlife activity.

After breakfast, travel to Lake Naivasha via scenic Rift Valley landscapes.

Enjoy a guided boat ride exploring freshwater ecosystems, birdlife, and hippo habitats, with emphasis on ecological balance and human-wildlife interaction.

After breakfast, visit Hell's Gate National Park for a guided cycling or walking safari, focusing on volcanic formations and geothermal features.

Later, return to Nairobi for a farewell dinner and reflection session.
