Tour Overview
Riviera Maya Tour
Itinerary
Today we will have a transfer directly from the airport of Cancun to Merida.
After picking you up at your hotel in Mérida at 9:00 a.m., we will head to the archaeological site of Kabah, in the interior of the Yucatán. Kabah is dedicated to the Mayan god of rain, Chaac. We will contemplate the hundreds of masks of the deity that cover the walls of Codz Poop, the "rolled-up carpet", and discover what rites were celebrated to attract rain. We will walk by the statues of the Mayan kings found throughout the city and visit the palace, the largest building in Kabah.
After the visit to Kabah, we will go to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch that will include several specialties of the local gastronomy. With our strength back, we will head to another important archaeological site in the Yucatan: Uxmal.
Located 96 kilometers southwest of Merida, this mysterious port is home to some of the most exotic species of the Yucatan Peninsula. A wonderful boat ride will take you through the mangroves. Where we will see the pink flamingos that give us a spectacular show as they fly above us.
The estuary is your natural breeding ground after long flights along the eastern coast. Visitors can also beat the heat by taking a dip in the fresh water that rises from the "Ojos de Agua", literally, eyes of water, hidden among the natural tunnels of the estuary formed between the mangroves.
Nothing beats the trips along the estuary to its spectacular encounter with the sea. In the heart of the city, a beach of unparalleled beauty awaits you to end your day tour.
Today after our breakfast we will check out at hour hotel and go directly in our transfer to Chichen Itza. Upon arrival at Chichén Itzá, look at the step pyramid of Kukulcan (El Castillo), known for the play of light from the equinox that casts shadows on each step to create an image of a serpent descending. Go to the ancient cenote of Ik Kil and experience one of the sinkholes that form part of a network of underground rivers sacred to the Maya people. Enjoy a delicious buffet meal and take a stroll around the colonial city of Valladolid to complete your experience.
Hop aboard a catamaran bound for Isla Mujeres, a picturesque island off the coast of Cancun known for its gorgeous beaches and world-class snorkeling and scuba diving. Enjoy a continental breakfast onboard before stopping to snorkel at the plentiful Punta Sam Reef. Guides on board will provide you with all the necessary equipment and show you the best spots on the reef.
Set sail once more for Isla Mujeres and dock at its bustling downtown area. Eat lunch at a beach club fully- equipped with lockers, showers, bathroom, dressing rooms, and two large pools. Enjoy a magnificent view of the Caribbean while snacking at the international buffet and sipping drinks from the open bar.
At the end of the day, journey back to Cancun aboard your catamaran. Dance on deck to the music played by your guides or just relax and gaze at the sunset.
