Tour Overview
This 14-day trek has everything; ranging from the deepest valley on earth and one of the highest mountains passes at 5416 meters. This is a real adventure to a land of towering snow-covered peaks in the regaled Annapurna Conservation Area of Nepal. You will enjoy 14 days in a beautiful terrain of forests, raging rivers, distinct flora and fauna, cascading waterfalls, glaciers and an expose of the fascinating Sherpa culture. You will pass through many villages displaying their Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags, temples, chortens, and Mani stones.
A highlight of this trek is reaching the high altitude and often challenging wind-swept 5416-meter Thorong La Pass that happens to be the highest pass in this region.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek was first opened in the 1980’s and has maintained its status as the most popular trekking destination in Nepal. You will trek through sub-tropical lower altitude forests, rhododendron and cyprus forests and along the remarkable Kali Gandaki Gorge (the world’s deepest). Along the trail you will pass through numerous Gurung and Magar villages that have essentially remained unchanged for generations. You will have that feeling of stepping back in time and that it has no relevance here among the unusual architecture of their homes. Your first glance of the spectacular Himalayan peaks, especially Annapurna and Dhaulagiri will leave you spell-bound and in awe of their magnitude. Your camera will capture them in all their glory as the sun reflects off their snow capped peaks.
Sherpa Expedition & Trekking (Est.1977) have more than 40 years been satisfying the needs of trekkers wanting to explore this region and will take care of all permits (Annapurna Conservation Area permit), meals and accommodation on the trek.

Itinerary
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative and taken to your hotel near Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu and an excellent place to do some last-minute shopping. After checking in at the hotel, you will be briefed on what to expect on your trek. This will be followed by a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant in the evening.
This morning we head out on a road trip to Bahundanda, firstly coming to Bhulbhule. From Bhulbhule we hit the trail and follow the trail along the banks of the Marsyangdi River. We eventually arrive at our overnight destination of Bahundanda where we will stay overnight at a guesthouse in this predominantly Gurung village.
This morning we will trek from Bahundanda to Chamje along a steep trail that passes terraced rice fields as we head to the Marsyangdi River. We pass the village of Syange with its beautiful waterfall and then head down to Jagat in the Marsyangdi valley. The trail becomes undulating until we arrive at Chamje where we will stay the night at a guesthouse.
After leaving Chame this morning we pass through rhododendron, pine, and bamboo forests and continue along the trail through the valley before arriving at Tal (1700m ) with its farmlands of wheat, potatoes, and other grains. We then pass through Dharapani and head in a westerly direction passing through fir and pine forests until we reach Bagarchhap where we stay the night.
This morning we leave Bagarchhap and head to the village of Danaque. As we climb higher we have some magnificent views of Manaslu (8163m), Annapurna and other gigantic peaks. Our trek takes us through several Tibetan villages, such as Thanchowk, Kolo before arriving at our destination for the night, Chame.
After leaving Chame this morning we pass through Telekhu Village and along the trail have some breathtaking views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m) before having to re-cross on the suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. Once across the river we head higher and through a pine-forest as we trek through the upper reaches of the Manang Valley to Pisang where we will stay the night.
The town of Pisang is the start of our trek in the upper Manang area. This morning we follow the trail to Braga; a Tibetan village with its unique architecture and houses built one upon the other. One of its main attractions is its Gompa, the largest in the Manang region. Manang is a popular destination with trekkers and is also a place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. Today’s trek is physically tiring due to having to trek for up to seven hours today. We will stay at Manang for night.
Medical professionals highly recommend that before heading to higher elevations that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also recommend staying active. Today we will climb up to Khangsar (3756m) as a way to further help us acclimatize. We can also visit the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) aid post in the village and head to Gangapurna Glacier Lake. We will stay in Manang at Guesthouse overnight.
This morning we head off on a 10.4 km uphill trek to Yak Kharka passing through juniper forests and along the trail you see yak grazing in these high alpine meadows. We pass the only teahouse on the route at Thorong Khola. Depending on the weather and conditions we may opt to go a little further and stay the night at Letdar.
As we climb higher today we will gradually get used to the higher altitudes. We follow the trail along the east bank of the Jarang Khola (river) and on the way see some steep bluffs before arriving at Thorong Phedi (meaning foot hills). We may also decide to trek for one more hour to High Camp (4800m). If we are fortunate we will see the famous blue sheep and even the very shy and elusive snow leopard. This region is also home to Lammergeyer (bearded vulture). There is also a belief the mythical griffons are in this region!
Today is going to be the toughest day of the trek, hiking for up to 11 hours. The higher altitude definitely makes this a more difficult trek, and sometimes strong winds in these upper regions can slow you down too. Along the trail, we may see sheep, yaks, and merchants transporting their goods from Tibet or between villages. Once we arrive at Thorong La Pass we will be rewarded with some of the finest views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the stunning peak of Khatungkang (6484m). Leaving the pass we head about 1600 meters downhill until we come to Muktinath. From Muktinath, we drive to Jomson where we will stay overnight.
This morning we head back on a 6 to 7 hour drive to Kathmandu with many warm memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. On arrival at Kathmandu you will be taken back to your hotels and this evening we will have a farewell dinner at a local Nepali restaurant with your guide and fellow trekkers.
Your 14 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek has come to an end. A representative from Sherpa expedition and Trekking will take you to the airport at least three hours prior to your departure. On your way home you may already be planning another great adventure to the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal.
