Nepal is the abode of great trekking trails. One is Everest Base
Camp Gokyo Lakes Trek in the famous Everest Region. It is a unique walking
journey about two jewels of the region: Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes.
Everest Base Camp, which needs no introduction, is the base camp
of Mt Everest. Similarly, Gokyo Lakes are six oligotrophic lakes spread
across the heavenly Gokyo Valley of to Everest Base Camp. Along with these two
major highlights, the trek takes you to Gokyo Valley, Gokyo Ri, Kala Patthar,
Cho La Pass, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Lobuche, and many more famous landmarks
of the region.
Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek are brilliant
ways of doing Everest Base Camp Trek.It is brilliant that this trek is
more happening, long and more peaceful than the regular EBC Trek. It offers you
almost all of the Everest or Khumbu Region offerings.
Commencing from Lukla, the trek advances via Phakding, Namche
Bazaar, and ahead. Throughout the walk, you experience dense vegetation, rich
Sherpa culture, religious shrines, suspension bridges, scenic
Sherpa hamlets, and myriad natural beauty. Gradually, you enter Gokyo region the
valley of pristine lakes. The valley offers you mouth-opening beauty
throughout.
After being moved by the beauty of Gokyo Valley and its lakes,
you go after Cho La Pass (5,420m), Everest Base Camp (5,365m), and Kala
Patthar(5,545m). In this fantastic walk, you will share days with glorious
peaks such as Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and more.
Moments at Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp are simply wordless.
This way, you will have a round walk through the Everest Region.
Exploring some of the best places in the region and experiencing the ultimate
trekking, you will return to Lukla. By the Everest Base Camp Trek with Gokyo

Itinerary
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our staff will receive you at Kathmandu Airport(TIA). Then you will be transferred to your hotel for a rest from jetlag.
Once you rejuvenate yourself, you will meet our team for briefings about the Everest Base Camp Gokyo Lakes Trek. Other members of the trek will join you. In the briefing, you will know everything about the expedition, including teahouses, the tour, culture, and history. After the meeting, you will attend a delicious welcome dinner and cultural program with our team.
It will be a free day to prepare for the trek. Optionally, you can visit the historical and cultural sites of the valley. The Kathmandu Valley is home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Bouddhanath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swaymbhunath Stupa, etc. You will have a brief walk around some of the sites.
In the evening, you will have free time to do personal things. You can do some last-minute shopping or hangouts in Kathmandu. Reaching the hotel, you will prepare for the next day’s flight to Lukla.

Phakding altitude: 2,657m
Overnight: Phakding
You’ll leave the hotel for Kathmandu Airport’s domestic terminal in the morning. From there, you will fly to Lukla as per your schedule. It will be a scenic flight of 35 minutes over the Himalayas. Soon you will touch down at the Lukla Airport and Lukla, the gateway to Everest.
Getting everything done and ready, you will leave Lukla by joining a downhill walk to Choplung village. You will reach the banks of the Dudh Koshi River in a while. Moving along the sides, you will end up in Phakding, the first stop of every Everest Region trek. You will have a blissful evening by the river in Phakding.

Namche Bazaar altitude: 3,440m
Overnight: Namche Bazaar
Beginning with a slow walk, you will follow the Dudh Koshi river to leave Phakding behind. Several small but beautiful sherpa villages will come along. Then you will reach a long suspension bridge of Monjo dotted with prayer flags. At Monjo, you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park.
From there, you will reach Jorsalle to cross another suspension bridge. The day will make you cross multiple small and long beautiful hanging bridges. And Dudh Koshi River will also be not too far from your trail.
Moving across the dense woods of rhododendron and pine trees, you will have a great day of trekking. You will sometimes get slight angles of Mt Everest, Thamserku, Kusum Kanguru, and Kongde peak. One final uphill trek from Hillary Suspension Bridge will take you to Namche Bazaar.
The unique ambiance of Namche Bazaar will make your evening a special one.
It will be a day to help you acclimatize to the area and altitude. There is no better place than Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. In Namche Bazaar, you have multiple hike options on this free day. You can visit Sagarmatha National Park’s information center, hike to Everest View Hotel or explore Khumjung and other Sherpa hamlets.
A hike to Everest View hotel(3,962m) is around 4-5 hours long. The hotel is one of the highest hotels in the world. You can look at Mt Everest, other peaks, and the entire region from the place. Following the acclimatization hike or exploration, you will return to Namche.

Dole altitude:4,110m
Overnight: Dole
In the wake of a special evening in Namche Bazaar, you will join a beautiful hike. It will start with a gradual climb and then to a meandering trail. You will get clear sights of Ama Dablam and Everest along the walk.
The slow climb of several hours will bring you to the hill of Mong. You will get an even better panorama of the peaks from this place. You will take some rest at the top, enjoying the view.
After the break, you will go downhill through cool, dense woods. Eventually, you will reach Phortse Tenga, which lies in the gorge of Dudh Koshi Valley. From Phortse Tenga, you will do a short uphill walk to finish the trek in Dole. Overnight in Dole.

Machhermo altitude: 4,470m
Overnight: Machherma
At daybreak, you will start climbing a ridge to put Machhermo behind. After the steep climb, the walk is comfortable through the bushes of Burberry and Juniper. The hike becomes even more picturesque, with great views of Mt Cho Oyu.
Trekking over the relatively short trail, you will reach Machhermo. The stop is a small area of Sherpas. You can see the pastures and farming land of the villagers. It is also just below a snowclad mountain. You will have a good evening in Machhermo.

Gokyo Lake altitude: 4,800m
Overnight: Gokyo village
It is a beautiful day of Everest Base Camp Gokyo Lakes Trek. You will finally reach Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo valley on this special day. The trek is also relatively short, which begins with a short climb to a hill. After the upgrade, you will walk on a pleasant route watching the heads of Cho Oyu, Cholatse, and Taboche peaks.
Shortly, you will reach the banks of the first Gokyo Lake and then the second Gokyo lake. You will enjoy the incredible sights of the lakes and move from one lake to another. This way, you will find the third and main Gokyo lake, Dudh Pokhari(AKA Milky Pond).
There are enough lodges by the Dudh Pokhari, sacred to Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. You will just love the view of the mountains and the terrains reflecting in the lake.
Trek duration: 5 hrs
Thagnak altitude: 4,700m
Overnight: Thagnak
In the dawn, you will do an exciting hike to Gokyo Ri(5,356m), the highest point of the Gokyo Valley. You will reach the pinpoint after 2-3 hours of hiking. From this viewpoint, you will catch Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and other peaks. The morning hike is genuinely worth it.
After the breathtaking time at Gokyo Ri, you will descend back to Gokyo. You will eat a good meal before leaving for Thagnak. The walk to Thagnak is a short walk that goes via Ngozumpa Glacier. Not gaining much height, you will reach Thagnak for the night. It is the base camp of Cho La Pass.
Trek duration: 8 hrs
Dzongla altitude: 4,855m
Overnight: Dzongla
From Thagnak, you will head towards Tsho La Pass or Cho La Pass. It will be a steep walk over the glacier moraines and rocky trail. Following some hours of uphill walking, you will reach the summit. The prayer flags dotted Cho La Pass provides a fantastic view of the mountains and vicinity.
Everest, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu are all visible from Cho La Pass. You will observe the view and take enough pictures. After the time at the top, you will gradually descend to Dzongla. The long trekking day will end with deserving rest in Dzongla.

Lobuche altitude: 4890m
Overnight: Lobuche
After the beautiful sleep in Dzongla, you will wake up to head towards Lobuche. The walk is comfortable as it's mostly straightforward. Except for the trek over Thugla Pass, the tour is much easier today. The hike will begin with the walk on the terminal moraine.
En route, you will come across the memorial site of the lost climbers in the region's mountains. And the day will see you join the regular way of Everest Base Camp Trek. Overnight in Lobuche.
Trek duration: 6 hrs
Gorak Shep altitude: 5185m
Overnight: Gorakshep
This is the day to reach Everest Base Camp. You will begin this big day with a walk in a flat valley. Then you will climb steeply to a ridge just over the Khumbu glacier.
From there, the walk progresses on rocky terminal moraines until Gorakshep. At Gorakshep, you will leave your belongings in a teahouse. You will also have a short break and a meal at the place.
After that, you will follow the trail to Everest Base Camp. In some hours, you will reach the place. You will be at the very foothill of Mt. Everest. Views of Khumbu Ice Fall, Mt Everest, and other peaks will make it more memorable. Following this visit, you will retrace back to Gorakshep.

Pangboche altitude: 3,900m
Overnight: Pangboche
On this day, you will start with a hike to Kala Patthar, the trek's highest point. The morning hike will reward the best mountain views of Everest and other peaks. Actually, it is the best place to overlook Mt Everest. You will spend some time observing the glorious views at the site.
After your time at Kala Patthar, you will return to Gorakshep. You will take a rest and have breakfast. Then you will leave Gorakshep for Pangboche through the Pheriche valley. The beautiful day will end in Pangboche.

Namche Bazaar altitude: 3,440m
Overnight: Namche Bazaar
From Pangboche, you will move towards Namche Bazaar via Tengboche. It will be an easy trekking day with more downhills and several ups. The elevation will start to drop drastically with every step towards Namche Bazaar. You will reach Namche Bazaar by exploring the Tengboche Monastery and crossing several forested trails.
Trek duration: 6 hrs
Lukla altitude: 2800m
Overnight: Lukla
It will be the last trekking day of the trek. The walk will happen on the same trail from Lukla to Namche Bazaar. You will retrace the same route to reach Lukla in the evening. You will cross various suspension bridges and Sagarmatha National Park en route to Lukla.
In the morning, you will take a flight to Kathmandu. The wonderful walk and stay in the region will end here. After taking off, you will reach Kathmandu in 35 minutes. You will enjoy some great aircraft views again.
Upon reaching Kathmandu Airport, you will get back to your hotel. It will be the end of the successful trek. You can use your leisure time to do things in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Like everything, the tour also ends here. You will get an airport transfer for your departure. Our team will bid you a warm farewell.
