The Everest Three Passes Trek is an adventurous and challenging trekking route in the Everest region of Nepal. This trek covers three high mountain passes: Kongma La (5,535 m), Cho La (5,420 m), and Renjo La (5,360 m). It offers breathtaking views of iconic peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Itinerary
On arrival, received by our staff and guide, transfer to your respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu. After checking into your lovely rooms, and getting refreshed from the jet leg, join in with other members of the Everest Three Passes trek.
Our guide/leader will brief us with information about the hotels-including detail of trekking regarding the local lodge, walks, views, history, and culture. A few important do’s and don’ts while you are with us having enjoyable times will also be short-listed.
The evening includes a nice dinner(which includes tradition foods of nepal) in a pleasant Nepalese restaurant with local cultural programs.
A free day to prepare for the upcoming treks to high Three high pass trek. In the morning, ( an optional) sightseeing tour at places of great interest.Subsequently, explore around Kathmandu world heritage sites for few hours and back at hotel.
Afternoon at leisure and free, go for individual activities and get ready with packing for next early morning flight to Lukla where our walk begins towards 3 passes trek.

Morning at the earliest, before or after quick breakfast or one carry pack breakfast to save time, reach at Kathmandu domestic airport terminal. From there a short scenic flight of 35 minutes reaches you at Lukla.
Lukla is a gateway Sherpa town at the height of 2,820 m high. This faces views of Kongde peak and Naulekh Himal.
With refreshing stop at Lukla then follow our lead guide after adjusting baggage with porters.Either one can carry or on pack animals (Jopkyo a mix breed of normal cow and Yak).
As walk leads past Lukla town heading down to Choplung small village and then around Dudh-Kosi River valley. In like manners, head toward gorge which is our first overnight stop at Phakdingma village by the raging glacial Dudh-Kosi River.
Phakding also called as Phakding for short, used the proper and correct words in respect for its name sake.
Starting with gradual walk in the morning from Phakdingma, follow the river upstream past several Sherpa nice villages with short ups and down.
Then cross a long suspension bridge to Monjo village, where Sagarmatha National Park starts. As a consequence, enter into park areas past Jorsalle the last village before Namche Bazaar.
From Jorsalle, cross bridge and move into serene woodland of tall pines and rhododendron trees. Next, climb on winding trail facing views of Kongde, Kusum Khanguru and Tharmasakru peaks.
Afterwards,walk brings you into famous Namche Bazaar. This is more of a town rather than village with many good restaurants, hotels, lodge, having number of shops and stores includes Bank and Post-Office.
At Namche enjoy in the comfort of nice cozy lodge, with time to marvel the views of snow capped peaks.
A free and rest day to support with acclimatization in Namche before heading higher ground. Short walks to view point towards Everest View Hotel takes nearly 3-4 hours both ways. Which offers excellent panorama of mountains with Everest and magnificent Amadablam.
In Namche, visit museum where you can gain knowledge of Khumbu Sherpa, culture, flora-fauna. As well as gain information of mountaineering expedition history with rest of the afternoon at leisure.
With pleasant time at Namche, walk leads to short climb and then on good wide trail facing views of Everest and Amadablam with array of peaks. As our Three passes trek route leads into woodland then descend towards Imjatse River to reach at a small place in Phunke-Tenga, possible lunch stop in the middle of a wood.
Afternoon, climb into forested areas facing views of Kangtenga-Tharmasarku and other peaks. The walk to Three passes trek with Everest Base camp brings at a wide open plateau in Tengboche(for details go through: A complete guide to Tengboche ), with its beautiful colorful Buddhist monastery. You will have time to visit the interior of the monastery where you can witness monks and priest on religious activities with prayer.
A scenic spot surrounded by high peaks with views of Everest and magnificent looking Amadablam amidst forest of rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-juniper-birch and fir tree lines, truly a great place for overnight stop.
Morning catches the views of surrounding peaks, where the walk leads downhill past Deoboche within the woodland to reach the Imjatse River. Cross over a steel bridge from their end of green vegetation and tree lines as the walk leads into the windswept dry and arid country to reach Pangboche. The last permanent village on route to Everest Base Camp where other settlements with lodges are catering to the needs of travelers and trekkers.
Slowly walk leads past Pangboche heading higher with ups and down to a river. With the last climb of the day for an hour to reach a scenic Imjatse valley at Dingboche, facing the North Side of Amadablam, with views of Island Peak in the east direction.
Today, a pleasant and short walk towards end of Imjatse valley to reach Chukung, the last human settlement of the area. In accordance, walk leads further east from Dingboche on near level grassy field with excellent views of Island Peak with Amadablam and other high mountains.
Walk follows with short down and ups till to our destinations at Chukung for lunch and overnight stop. With free afternoon to relax with some short hike or climb to Chukung Ri hill located above 5,150 m high facing outstanding views of surrounding mountains.
Our true adventure starts from this morning onward, as early morning walk leads on higher side of Imjatse valley. Then leaving the valley heading into enclosed areas between Pokalde and Nuptse peaks to reach high above Khongma-la at 5,535 m.
The top marked with prayer flags and stone cairns hidden between might peaks of Pokalde-Nuptse and Mehra also known as Khongma Peak, a refreshing stop on the top after strenuous climb on rubble of rocks and moraine.
From the pass descend leading to Khumbu glacier of great blocks of ice and small ponds with moraine and rocks. Where one has to be careful finding the right tracks following our expert guide to reach the other end. So, the where climb over dunes of mud and rock leads to downhill to Lobuche for overnight stop.
Our adventure today leads to our main target and goal at Everest base camp, where morning walk follows a flat valley with slow climb to reach further and then a steep climb to reach a ridge near above Khumbu glacier.
As walk continues over rocky moraines and ice to reach a scenic flat areas at Gorakshep located on the bottom of Kalapathar and Mt. Pumori on route to Everest base camp. At Gorakshep, get short break catching breathe in this high altitude with dry air.
From Gorakshep following our lead guide heading further east to reach at much awaited destination Everest Base Camp with marvelous views of Khumbu Ice-Falls.The glaciers looking above peaks of Nuptse, Everest and Lhotse, in high mountaineering season of April to May, will be flooded with tents of expeditions.
After exciting time having achieved our goal, walk back to Gorakshep for overnight stop before heading downhill back to Lukla with climb of Kalapathar.
Starting early morning before breakfast climb to the top of rocky hill at above 5,545 m, the highest spot of the adventure.Where you will be rewarded with overwhelming panorama of giant surrounding peaks with close views of Everest and Mt. Pumori.
After a mesmerizing moment on top Kalapathar descend to Gorakshep for breakfast.Furthermore, carry on trekking down towards base of Tsho-la pass at Dzongla for overnight stop.
In early morning, start over grassy fields and then walk on rocks and moraine with steep climb for near four hours to reach. Reach at the top of Tsho-la pass above 5,367 m festooned with Buddhist prayer flags with scenic views of surrounding peaks.
After overcoming tiredness from the long climb a gradual descend way down towards Gokyo valley to reach at Thagnag for overnight stop, located at the base of Tsho-la (often spelled Cho-la) and at the end and bottom of Ngozumba massive glacier.
From Machherma, a short day walk in morning starts with a short climb to a hill top and then on pleasant path overlooking views of Taboche, Cho-Oyu and Cholatse mountains. As walk leads to climb reaching first lake and then second lakes of Gokyo valley.
After walking past the lake side, coming at last towards third and main lakes of Gokyo. The lake is also known as Dudh Pokhari (Milky Pond) and considered as holy by both Hindu and Buddhist religions.
At Gokyo retire in a nice cozy lodge for lunch and overnight stop, with afternoon free to marvel the scenic views of surroundings peaks with world 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu that straddles the border with Nepal and Tibet.
Another early morning, start to cross and traverse our final last high Renjo-la pass, where walk leads towards the opposite side of Gokyo lake. And then start steep climb with long haul to reach at the top of Renjo-la at 5,362 m high facing outstanding panorama of Cho-Oyu, Everest, Lhotse as far to Makalu in the east direction.
From the top, an easy descend will past Renjo Pokhari (ponds) to reach lonely and isolated Yak herders camp at Lungdhen. Thus, there will be overnight stop in the comfort of a nice and simple lodge after completing the last pass of the adventure.
Feeling in great and high spirit after crossing all three high passes in good conditions and fitness where morning walk leads down to Marlung village and then at Thame. At Thame, stop in this nice quiet and quaint village, located west of Namche on route towards Rolwaling valley via Tashi-Labtsa pass and as well on Trans Himalayan trade route of Nepal and Tibet.
Thame adorns a nice old monastery which is interesting to visit adjoining top Thame village, a worth tour inside the monastery treasured with ancient relics and idols of Buddha.
On completing our memorable and exciting adventure over Everest Three Passes, here onward will be an easy walk.You donot need to worry of high altitude sickness, as route leads loosing elevation every hour of walks.
From Thame, crossing a short bridge with short climb and walk to Thamo. A hydro power for Khumbu village is located on this nice village. Get back into tree lines with views of Kongde peaks, as walk nears to Namche Bazaar for last overnight stop before Lukla.
Eventually, our last day of final treks, reach at Lukla. The morning starts with long downhill towards a high bridge to reach Dudh Kosi River valley. Next, head towards Sagarmatha national park entrance and exit point to Monjo village.
Then walk continues past Phakdingma with last short climb to reach at last overnight stay in Lukla before flying back to Kathmandu.
Depending upon flight time for Kathmandu, morning with last breakfast in Khumbu and Lukla transfer to air terminal. This terminal is named after the World famous Tenzing and Hillary, the first to conquer Mt. Everest in 1953.
As per flight schedule board in a smaller aircraft for sweeping short air journey to reach Kathmandu airport and then transfer back to your respective hotels.
Finally all good things must come to an end with grand glorious memories of Everest Three Passes Traverse; with last final day in Nepal a country of Himalayan wonders where our staff and guide transfer you to Kathmandu international airport for your flight home or to respective countries.
