About this tour
Explore the island sanctuary of the goddess Isis and the engineering marvels of Aswan on this 5-hour (1-day) private guided tour of the Temple of Philae (including private motorboat crossing), the Aswan High Dam, and the ancient granite quarries of the Unfinished Obelisk, concluding with a scenic Nubian Nile-view lunch. Accompanied by a private licensed Egyptologist guide and dedicated air-conditioned vehicle, this Aswan excursion includes 1 lunch (breakfast and dinner are not included).
Depart your Aswan hotel or Nile cruise ship at 08:30 and drive to the southern marina to board a private motorboat across the crystal waters of the First Cataract reservoir to Agilkia Island (09:00–11:00). Rescued stone by stone by UNESCO before the flooding of old Philae Island, the Temple of Isis at Philae features graceful Ptolemaic colonnades, the Birth House (Mammisi), and Trajan's Kiosk.
Continue to the monumental Aswan High Dam (11:15–12:00) for panoramic views over Lake Nasser and the First Cataract, then inspect the 1,200-ton Unfinished Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut still attached to the pink granite bedrock in the Northern Quarries (12:10–12:45) before enjoying lunch at a Nile-side restaurant and returning to your Aswan hotel by 13:30. Practical Note: Rated Easy and suitable for all ages (2–85).
