The Bosnian pyramids complex is a pseudoarchaeological notion to explain the formation of a cluster of natural hills in the area of Visoko in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 2005, Semir Osmanagic, also known as Sam Osmanagic, a Bosnian American businessman now based in Houston, Texas, has claimed that these hills are the largest human-made ancient pyramids on Earth. His claims have been overwhelmingly refuted by scientists but he has proceeded to promote the area as a tourist attraction.




Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The town is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Bosnia (dating back almost 4000 years), and home to the best preserved Ottoman bridge in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ottoman-inspired bridge (Konjička Stara Ćuprija). The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia-Herzegovina's most recognizable landmarks, and is considered one of the most exemplary pieces of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.




Blagaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Blagaj is a village in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of Bosnia-Herzegovina, located in about 15 km from Mostar, and is one of the most valuable mixed urban and rural built environments in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Blagaj has eleven national monuments, and is famous for the spring of the Buna river coming from cave, historical Dervish monastery (tekija) built around 1520, and medieval fortress Blagaj Fort, town-fortress complex built on a 310 meters high karst hill. Blagaj is also known as a residential area of Bosnian rulers and royal families.




Počitelj (Pocitelj), Bosnia and Herzegovina

Počitelj is a small Ottoman-Mediterranean settlement, built along the Neretva river, conveniently located on the major road between Dubrovnik and Mostar. The walled town of Počitelj evolved in the period from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Architecturally, the stone-constructed parts of the town are a fortified complex, in which two stages of evolution are evident: medieval and Ottoman.




Radimlja, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The famous monastery Tvrdos, located about five kilometers from Trebinje, dates back to the Middle Ages and it is believed that it was founded by the Czar, Saint Constantine, and his mother Saint Helen. Risan, Montenegro

Apollonia flourished in the Roman period and was home to a renowned school of philosophy, but began to decline in the 3rd century AD when its harbor started silting up as a result of an earthquake. It was abandoned by the end of Late Antiquity. Apollonia is UNESCO Tentative List site.
