Tour Overview

Mount Everest Base Camp Trek is the most popular destination for trekkers in Nepal. Its popularity has grown since the first expedition to the Nepalese side of Everest in the 1950s. The trek takes off from Lukla. First, you will take 30 minutes morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and land at tiny Lukla Airport, and then your trek starts in Khumbu Region.

The trek leads to the Dudh Kosi valley route with a climb up to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazar. From Namche, you will trek along a heightened path from where you will witness the first good view of Everest. Next, you head towards Tyangboche Monastery, located on the mountain ridge.

To reach the Base Camp, you will trek through the glacier that takes you first to Lobuche and then to Ghorak Shep, where you will finally reach your destination Everest Base Camp, at the foot of the Khumbu ice falls.

Highlights

  • Stunning Views: Throughout the trek, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the highest peaks in the world, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Ama Dablam.
  • Sherpa Culture: The trek takes you through many Sherpa villages, where you can learn about their rich culture and traditions.
  • Sagarmatha National Park: The trek passes through Sagarmatha National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to diverse flora and fauna, including the rare snow leopard.
  • Tengboche Monastery: You will visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the region, and experience a traditional Buddhist ceremony.
  • Everest Base Camp: The highlight of the trek is reaching Everest Base Camp, where you can stand in the shadow of the world's highest peak and feel a sense of accomplishment that few can claim.
  • Kala Patthar: The trek also takes you to Kala Patthar, a high point with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including the famous Khumbu Glacier.
  • Challenging Adventure: The Everest Base Camp trek is a challenging adventure that requires physical and mental endurance, but the rewards are well worth the effort.
