As the Denizli Province (known as Pamukkale) has a variety of hot spring waters, Karahayit is one of them and the best-known thermal district after Pamukkale travertines. The region has been a spa center since 2 BC, and today it has guests both foreign and native. Instead of the travertines in Pamukkale (named a cotton castle because of its color), Karahayit is red because the water has iron mineral content.
