Aizanoi Archaeological Site

Aizanoi Archaeological Site is situated in the Cavdarhisar neighborhood, about 50 kilometers southwest of Kutahya. Recent archeological discoveries indicate that the ancient city of Aizanoi dates to the third century BC. The city was a point of conflict between the kingdoms of Pergamon and Bithynia, but In 216 BC, Attalos I of Pergamon triumphed. Later Romans control the city. The marble Zeus Temple, constructed between the 92nd century BC and the Hadrian era, is one of the few items still present in the ruins. The artifacts discovered during the digs can be seen in the Kutahya Archeological Museum.
