Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Neo-Byzantine in design, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a cross-domed cathedral. It was primarily constructed in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, between the years 1904 and 1912. Despite serving as the city's emblem, the church is regarded as one of the ten largest Eastern Orthodox churches and the Balkans' largest sanctuary. It has a 3170 m2 interior space and can hold about 5000 people.  Ivan Bogomolov originally created the church, but Alexander Pomerantsev, with the aid of Alexander Smirnov and Alexander Yakovlev, made significant changes to it. It is 45 m high and has a gold-plated dome on which the Lord's Prayer is written in golden letters. Brazilian onyx, alabaster, and other pricey decoration materials were used to embellish the interior.
