Archaeological Museum (Rhodes)

Since 1916, the Archaeological Museum has been housed in the Knights' Hospital building near Rhodes' harbor. This impressive bioclimatic structure houses archaeological finds from various areas of Rhodes. Its construction began in 1489 under the supervision of Grand Master de Lastic, who used funds inherited from an ancestor, Flouvianos. However, it took Master D'Aubusson 49 years to complete it, with Gothic-style architecture incorporating Renaissance features. Among the museum's exhibits are discoveries from Ialyssos and ancient Kamiros, classical, and Hellenistic sculptures, and mosaic floors from the Hellenistic era around the city of Rhodes. The south wing of the gallery displays Rhodian sculptures, from antiquity to the Roman period.
