Arslantepe Archaeological Site

The Arslantepe Archaeological Site is located 7 kilometers northeast of Malatya Province. Due to continuous human settlement from the Late Chalcolithic to the Islamic eras, it is one of Turkey's most important archaeological sites. The archeological digs have revealed six settlement and culture layers in the tumuli. The digs at the same time unearthed pots, a temple, and commercial seals. Aslantape is regarded as the birthplace of aristocracy and the concept of government.
