Asarkale and Rock Tombs (Bafra)

Asarkale was reportedly constructed in Samsun Province during the Hellenistic Period as a defense against invasions. It is located in the Bafra district along the Kizilirmak River. The three rock tombs are located in the Paphlagonia region, which is positioned between Pontus and Bithynia to the east and west, and were carved into the bedrock. The tombs, on the other hand, are built in a classical Greek style. The 300-meter-high tombs were accessible via a tunnel that was constructed for military use, according to historians.
