Ataturk and Redif Museum

The Ataturk and Redif Museums were built between 1861 and 1876 during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz, along with Kasr-i Humayun (Sultan's hunting pavilion). The structure was constructed in the Neo-Classical style, with simple facade decoration. In the museum, visitors can explore Izmit’s National Forces and heroes, military ceremonies, weapons, swords, and a wide collection from Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's Savarona Yacht. The museum also displays the Ottoman culture and the atmosphere of the nineteenth century.
