Ayas Castle

Ayas Castle is situated on the Mediterranean coast in Adana Province. There is no reliable source about when it was built; however, the region was a small port city during the Roman era and most probably it was built by Romans for trade. It was damaged during the Arab and Mamluk invasions. In 1269, explorer and writer Marco Polo visited the region. Today it is one of the region's most visited sites, along with Suleyman’s Tower, Markopolo Pier, and Maiden's (Atlas) Castle.
