Becin Castle

Becin Castle is located in Mugla Province on a plateau that has 200 meters elevation from Milas Plain. The recent archeological digs on the necropolis near the castle, which were done by the Milas Museum, revealed that the castle dates back to 3000 BC. Temple ruins from the 4th century BC can be found in the southeast corner of the castle. The castle was captured by Menteshe Beylik, one of the Turkish frontier principalities in Anatolia, and became a government center in the 14th century. At the end of the 14th century, Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I conquered it. It is one of the Unesco World Heritage Sites in Turkey.
