Bimarhane

Bimarhane is one of the historical hospitals which were built by Turkish clans along the Anatolia coast. It is located in the center of Amasya Province and today is a museum named Amasya Sabuncuoglu History of Medicine Museum. It was built at the beginning of the 14th century during the Ilkhanate reign by Sultan Olcaytu Mehmed and his wife Ilduz Hatun. Bimarhane was renamed after Sabuncuoglu Serefeddin, who worked as a chief physician for 14 years here and wrote the first Turkish surgical work, Sahne-l Haniye. In the museum, the artifacts that were regenerated from his drawings, can be seen in the halls.
