Mahmut Bey Mosque

Mahmut Bey Mosque was built during the Isfendiyarids' reign in Kastamonu Province. It is about 20 kilometers from the city center in Kasaba village. Emir Mahmud Bey, the son of Isfendiyarid leader Emir Adil Bey, built it in the 14th century. The interior decorations of the mosque and its door are rare samples of wood carving craft. The mosque, like the Civisiz Mosque in Samsun, was constructed without any nails, and it is most probably the first nail-free building in Anatolia. It was added to the Unesco Tentative List in 2014. It also called  Candaroglu Mahmut Bey Mosque.
